Yoink! So funny. Thank you for this tutorial.
Thank you for all your tips…😊❤
You are so welcome!
Since I am a beginner to knitting this has been a great help to me. Thank you 😊
Yay! I am so happy to be part of your knitting journey!
Best instruction’s .
I'm so glad they were helpful to you.
I love Noma’s designs. She is wonderful.
They are so gorgeous!
Thanks for featuring these designers.
I am happy to do whatever I can to spread the knitting love.
@@WatchBarbaraKnit much appreciated! 😊🧶
I watch your videos and I want to Thank You for this video so much! I am 70 years old and have knit my whole life and struggle with my knit stitches being uneven. I've knit where I've just pulled the yarn onto the other needle. Nobody ever showed me the way it should be done. I shared your video with my whole knitting group! I have thoroughly enjoyed my knitting today. I didn't have to go back every 10 or 20 stitches and snug them up. It has always taken me so long to finish a project because I've always gone back to even them up some. No More!!!! Thank You Again!!! ❤
I am so happy that I was able to improve your happiness in your knitting! May you be able to get twice as much knitting done now!
Ooooh! Thank you, Barbara! You are awesome!
You are so welcome!
Great video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you, great explanation and very useful video. ❤
Yay! That's what I aim for.
I found this out when knitting my first sock. the sock looked like bigfoot put it on and stretched it out. LOL I found a new way to hold my yarn and the tension was so much better, my stitches are more even now and the second sock fit perfect on the long skinny foot it was intended for, including the heel. Tension was 90% of my problem.
Tension is so often the problem LOL.
When I looked at my Fuzzy Goat newsletter this morning I found your unboxing video. I hardly ever watch a whole unboxing but I watched all of yours lolol. You are a fun chickie to watch with my morning coffee. Such a fun box! I am all for pajama pants! I had to zoom the picture to snoop at your shelves. I love the Fuzzy Goat! I have purchased from them a few times and I am always pleased. I need that Swedish cloth (I love those things!) The yarn they sent is beautiful. So I had to subscribe 😊
Thank you for having coffee with me! I have plans to visit the Fuzzy Goat before the end of the year and I am really looking forward to seeing the shop IRL. My shelves are a bit chaotic LOL. I hope that you will continue to enjoy my content and encourage you to look at some back catalog .... I've made a lot of videos LOL.
I subscribed to your newsletter too lol! And I am checking out the videos for sure.
Very helpful, indeed. thank you. 😁
You're welcome!
Hm…I may be a yoinker. Thanks for this explanation! Very helpful. 😊
LOL, it's nothing to be ashamed of and if you're happy with how you knit you keep at it. But if you've been looking for a way to neaten things up you might want to shake things up.
Thanks for the thorough demonstration -- It was a great reminder about not yanking those stitches off the needle! So what can you offer to improve row gauge? My stitches are too short. I am knitting more sweaters these days and I spend a lot of time recalculating increase and decrease rates. Is it something I just have to live with or can something be done about it?
As far as I know the only thing to do is fiddle with your needle size/needle material type when doing gauge swatches. Don't be afraid to go up/down needle sizes to get what you want.
@@WatchBarbaraKnit yeah, I thought that was the answer that I did not want. I can usually get stitch gauge and I would rather have that in most situations but I want to knit a side to side sweater and it might be a bigger problem than usual. I am still waiting on the yarn so don't even know if it will be a problem. Yarn is definitely a factor in this equation. Thank you for your input!
I love your videos! They’re like refresher courses for us intermediate knitters, but I always learn new tips ❤!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I really try to speak to things that are typically left unspoken.
@WatchBarbaraKnit what is the yarn you are using? I like the sheen and drape of your sample.
@@marynew2806 It is Dos Tierras from Malabrigo. 50/50 Merino/Alpaca DK weight. It is a great yarn!
Oh my, this was great. I have never heard anyone explain this, and it was so understandable. Thank you 😊
I hope it made you more comfy with your knitting!
Really good info but it would be great to see some examples of what they look like. And how do you tell if your wool is superwash or not?
Honestly, the only reliable way to tell is to read the label. Visually there aren't any generalized distinguishing factors. Barring that, you can make a small swatch and throw it into a hot washing machine and then hot dryer and see if it felts/shrinks .... definitely not superwash.
@@WatchBarbaraKnit Thanks for your speedy reply, and for all your videos! I am finding that the wool which is labelled superwash tends to have a somewhat shiny appearance or slightly slippery feel as compared to more natural wool so with the wool which I don't know about (mostly 2nd hand or thrifted) I'm going to guess based on that. I want to make more clothes from wool to avoid plastics so it was a revelation that a lot of wool now is superwash and can include similar polymers / chemicals as plastic yarns.
Adorable capelets!! Can I knit a capelets with straight needles. Please guide me and also I would like to understand the plan of a capelets. Thanks dear.
You would have to look for a pattern for a capelet that is knit flat, I am sure you could find some on Ravelry.
🇧🇷💕🌷💥LINDO OBRIGADA 😘
Thank you!
Thanks - very timely for me to see this video this evening, as I am trying to decide whether to make a Large or XL size cardigan. Didn't realize there was a difference in how ease is presented in the pattern. Mine gives a finished measurement, so that means I have to figure out whether the pattern tells me to add in an amount of ease (I don't think it does, though).
Sometimes there's a note that says "intended to be worn with X amount of ease", but otherwise it's up to you and how you want the piece to fit.
I love this pattern and already have the perfect yarn in my stash for it.
Yay! I hope you have fun knitting it!
Fascinating, I made it to the end! Very good info, thanks.
Awesome, thank you!
I just saw this and I love the pattern! ❤❤❤ I’ll have to look at my supply and see if I have enough yarn
Considering you can make it whatever size you want I'm pretty sure you might LOL
i wonder if that first soap you opened is meant to be the genderfluid pride flag.
It doesn't go black/white which is why it gave more bi vibes to me.
Soooo helpful and illuminating. I’ve been knitting for 20 years but still found gold. Thank you! What a great community we knitters are in..sharers and carers!
You are so welcome! I am so glad that I had at least a tidbit to share.
That is simply gorgeous Barbara!!! 😍
Thank you so much!
Thank god I came across this video!!!!! I was so confused why I was continuously creating more stitches every row - then I realized my first stitch was the problem and the way I wasn’t dropping the yarn when switching hands. You are a SAINT for this video!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Yay! This is exactly why I made this video!
this is such a life saver! thank you so much for sharing! ❤
You're so welcome!
I think PJ bottoms ARE legit pants. Glad to find your channel. And I love to say ya’ll. Or yinz b/c I’m in Pennsylvania.
Yinz is a great word. LOL
This pattern is very interesting for me. I’m not an expert knitter but this doesn’t look like a basic shawl. My sister-in-law is a very small person and I’ve had a hard time finding a shawl (pattern) for her to wear in church and other forums where a shawl will take off the chill in the air. I would like to use really, really nice yarn because I love her a lot and she deserves the best. That said, I think the first “go” should be more conservatively chosen. She wears a size 0-2 for most of her clothes, so you can imagine trying to knit for her. But she can’t find a ready-to-wear shawl anywhere. She has therefore given up…then I saw your new pattern which I love. Not too complicated for me yet not too “simplistic” either. Hope I’m expressing myself correctly. I plan on using a sock yarn because I have more colors to choose from and any of them would be beautiful. I liked your note of using “silk” as part of the yarn composition due to obtaining a better drape. Do you think this will fit her as a casual “wrap” for church? She is soooo tiny. I could only dream. 😅 Thanks for your response and any additional help, Sandy Fercho. 9890 sw Coral Tree Circle, Port St Lucie, Fl 34987 734-751-9048
The way this shawl is constructed it is worked side to side and can be made pretty much any size you want it to be. You could always transfer live stitches to waste yarn and let her try it on as it get bigger simply stopping when it is a size she likes.
Made it to the end, and subscribed! thank you!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Love the PJs! I never put on proper pants until I have to - my friends and family know to call first
Pants are totally overrated.
You are a beautiful human. This little shawl pattern makes sense. Thank you.
Oh thank you!
I have a set of those stitch markers and they are great! I reserve mine for start of round but they would also be great for socks as they are so thin.
Good to know!
I had a cone of bamboo (light finger weight or heavy lace weight) that I used to make 2 shawls. You are so right about the splitting. I had to redo many rows at times but got good at being careful with the splitting. The patterns had a lot of k2tog and intricate stitches that meant I couldn't really use a blunter needle or I couldn't do the stitches, but the pointier ones were difficult also! What made it worth it was the drape - absolutely gorgeous! I enjoy your videos as I am a shawl lover (I make them but don't usually wear them - great presents, tho). Another one I LOVE is (are?) your swatch videos. I actually am in love with the swatch patterns themselves and would like to ask that you design a shawl that uses these stitches - maybe not the cables as they usually don't fit in quite well with the yarns that look good in the other stitches, but I think the other stitches go together beautifully. How about it? (In your spare time (LOL). Another question: In the old days (I mean really old as I'm 76), rayon was somewhat flammable and at times disintegrated (rayon scarves, especially). Do you think items made from rayon yarn will last?
I honestly don't know about the longevity of rayon, I would guess it is comparable to cotton? The plus is that it is a natural fiber, which makes it biodegradable ... but that means it will degrade LOL.
What a beautiful shawl!
Thank you!
Too much pre talk
I'm so glad that you took the time out of your busy day to leave this incredibly useful comment on a five year old video. The great thing about UA-cam is there are all different kinds of creators and I wish you the best of luck finding one that makes videos to your exacting specifications.
Hi Barbara, yup stitch markers equals settee!! Love the headband. Oooo pretty yarn. Love the colours. Love the box. xxJane 🐑🌼
Thanks so much. I thought the llama headband was theme appropriate LOL.
Funny funny stickers!!! Enjoy your goodies from the box!
I see you made it to the end LOL. Thanks!
Oh my goodness! My mom lives in Tville and I LOVE going to the Fuzzy Goat every time I'm in town. They have good stuff and a place to just sit and knit and talk about your projects.
I will visit someday!
Absolutely loved your review of these books!
Thank you so much!

Really helpful and straightforward info.
Yay! I'm glad you liked the video.
